Pediatrician in Roswell, GA

Roswell is where a lot of north Fulton families put down roots and stay. The neighborhoods along Holcomb Bridge Road and Old Alabama Road, the established streets of Martin’s Landing, the shops on Historic Canton Street and the trails at the Vickery Creek unit of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area all belong to a city built for raising children. Across 30075 and 30076, the pediatric question is less about finding an office and more about finding one that will still know your family in ten years.

That’s the kind of practice The World of Pediatrics has been since 1989. We now care for four generations of families, and many of the Roswell children we met as newborns are the teenagers we see for sports physicals today. Our office at 3255 North Point Parkway in Alpharetta is a short drive up GA 400 or out Holcomb Bridge Road.

Many Roswell families deliver at Northside Hospital Atlanta, where more metro Atlanta babies are born than anywhere else, and others deliver at Wellstar North Fulton Hospital on Hospital Boulevard. Either way, here’s how the first weeks work.

  1. Before your due date. Choose your pediatrician: look over our practice, check that your insurance is on our list of accepted plans and save our number in both parents’ phones.
  2. After discharge. Call the office once your baby is home. New patient forms are electronic, so you can complete them before you come in.
  3. Within 24 to 48 business hours of discharge. Your baby’s first visit: a full newborn exam, a weight check against birth weight, a jaundice assessment, umbilical cord care, and a feeding review whether you’re breastfeeding, formula feeding or doing both.
  4. The weeks that follow. Extra weight checks when your baby needs closer tracking, plus feeding support on volume, frequency, latch and bottle questions, reflux and spit-up, and normal newborn sleep.

We’re delivering at Northside or Wellstar North Fulton. What happens when we go home?

The hospital handles your delivery and nursery stay. Once you’re discharged, call us, and we’ll see your baby within 24 to 48 business hours for a full exam, weight check and feeding review. From there, we’re the office you call with every new question.

A lot of pediatric offices set aside a corner of the waiting room for newborns. Then everyone is called back to the same exam rooms. Our office is built differently: sick and well patients have their own waiting rooms and their own exam rooms. A two-week weight check, a six-month well visit and a strep test happen in completely separate spaces.

Well-child visits on the American Academy of Pediatrics schedule, with growth, development and milestone tracking at every visit. The full childhood vaccine schedule given on time; mandated vaccinations are required for all patients in the practice, which helps protect babies too young to be fully vaccinated.

Vision, hearing and developmental screenings at recommended ages, immunization records for Fulton County schools, daycare and camp, and same-day sick visits with the first available provider for fever, ear pain, sore throat, rash and respiratory illness.

Sports physicals for middle and high school athletes, plus Georgia school forms, including Form 3300. Forms are completed at the visit when your child is cleared. If the screening turns up something that needs a closer look, such as chest pain while running, we’ll explain the next step, which may be a follow-up visit or clearance from a specialist such as a cardiologist. Attention, mood, anxiety and school concerns are handled as part of primary care, with referrals to pediatric behavioral specialists when needed.

Georgia’s long pollen season keeps allergy and asthma symptoms active well past the usual spring months. We review action plans before pollen counts climb, adjust medications as children grow, and coordinate with pediatric specialists when a referral is needed. For chronic care, we work to keep your child with the same provider, so the person adjusting the plan knows how last year went.

“WOP is a great family oriented practice. The front desk staff is professional, kind and courteous. Dr. Vayman Sr. and Dr. Cayman Jr. are phenomenal. My son was treated by DrV. Sr. since he was about 5 years old. She is professional, great bedside manners and have a lot of wisdom. When my son went into his teenage years he started to see Dr.V Jr. The apple dont fall far from the tree!! Dr. V Jr. is very thorough, detailed and inquisitive. She is concerned about the patient and the patient’s family. Our experience is unforgettable. … [O]ur family have been treated with love, support, encouragement and care. We are forever grateful”

Dr. Rosalie Vayman with her baby

Roswell families tend to stay, and that has shaped this practice. My mother, Dr. Lyudmila Vayman, started caring for North Fulton children in 1989 and later served as Chief of Pediatrics at North Fulton Hospital, so a lot of our Roswell families go back a long way with us. Some of the children she saw as toddlers now come to me as teenagers, and a few are bringing in babies of their own.

I joined the practice in 2018 after training at the Medical College of Georgia and completing my residency in Savannah. What I value most about this work is the long view: seeing a newborn at her first weight check and still being part of her care when she’s heading off to high school sports. That’s the relationship we want to build with every Roswell family.

QuestionAnswer
Roswell has plenty of pediatric options. Why drive to your Alpharetta office? For continuity. We work to keep your child with the same provider for well visits, physicals and chronic care, and we’ve cared for north Fulton families since 1989. We’re a short drive up GA 400 or out Holcomb Bridge Road, just off GA 400 near Avalon.
Georgia’s pollen season seems to last forever. How do you manage our kids’ allergies year to year?We treat it as a year-round issue rather than a spring one. We review action plans before pollen counts climb and adjust medications as children grow. Through fall and winter, same-day sick visits are available for RSV, flu and strep, seen in our separate sick-side rooms.
We’re moving from another pediatrician. How do we switch?Call the office at (770) 442-5437, check your plan on our insurance page and complete the electronic new patient forms. Sign a medical records release at your first visit and we’ll request your child’s records from the previous practice.

Families also come to us from across north Fulton and Forsyth. If you’re looking for an Alpharetta pediatrician, a Cumming pediatrician, a pediatrician near Johns Creek or a Milton pediatrician, you’ll find the same newborn care, separate sick and well rooms and same-day sick visits at our North Point Parkway office.
